Surreal Storage

14 12 2009

I was looking through my blog stats when I saw somebody reached my link from my friend İçten’s friendfeed (İçten’s blog is right here, İçten’s friendfeed is here).  These cabinets, dressers, bookcases etc. reminds me of Wonderland… They were created by Vincent Thomas Leman, who is a craft artist.

According to Dornob (a site that offers “daily new design ideas”), “Despite their twists and turns, each drawer can be pulled and each cabinet opened.” I was shocked when I read that particular sentence, because I had initially thought that these storage elements were part of some kind of an artwork, and wasn’t meant for being used. Wow.

Monokuro Boo Die-cut Calendar

14 12 2009

This calendar of Monokuro Boo’s is so cute! It’s definitely in my wishlist. Monokuro Boo belongs to San-x. I had posted about them previously here. You can buy the calendar below here for $9.99

JulieM on redbubble

13 12 2009

The user JulieM on redbubble does wonderful wildlife photography. She lives in Australia and she’s 60 years old. I don’t think she has a blog or a website though, or I couldn’t find it (despite being the google queen :P).  Here are some of my favorite photographs that she took:

Kukuburi is back yet again!

13 12 2009

kukuburi, the webcomic I love because of its intricate art, which I posted about here and here, is back from its hiatus yet again! Yay :)

The comic is by Ramón Pérez, and is about Nadia, who has a daily routine as a delivery girl in the bustling Big City and is disrupted one day when she passes through what seems like an ordinary white picket gate and into another world. As Nadia stumbles through this newfound land, and tries to find her place within it, she encounters its strange denizens and discovers all is not beautiful as it appears to be…

2009 Calendar by San-x

12 12 2009

Remember San-x? The creators of Monokuro Boo (which I had previously mentioned here) and たれぱんだ (which I had posted about here)? I found out today, that they are the guys who designed my schedule book with the character kutusitanyanko as well (which is the cat featured below in the months March, May, August and October), but I want to mention san-x’s printable 2009 calendar of the past year. Here is the link to the calendar, but for people who don’t want to bother, here are the individual monthly pages. I am really looking forward to the calendar for 2010. Click to full-view.

The Muppets: Bohemian Rhapsody

12 12 2009

Who doesn’t love the Muppets? The Muppets were first created by Jim Henson. And now they are singing Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody?

iGoogle

12 12 2009

I had mentioned iGoogle (Google’s customizable page) in one of my previous posts, when trying to find a layout style for keşfekeder, which was an unlaunched project for VA 301 suggested by my friend Ezgi.

I use the tea house theme for my own iGoogle, which I think is wonderful because it changes all the time. I love foxes and the illustration of this particular fox is amazingly cute. Plus it changes during the day. Check this out:

You might have noticed the spirits there at 03:14 who eat the oranges which are offerings, they are some kind of a Yōkai which are a class of preternatural creatures in Japanese folklore ranging from the evil oni (ogre) to the mischievous kitsune (fox) or snow woman Yuki-onna.

Want to know a bit more about Yōkai? Check out this post on my blog named Traces of Visual History.

The full length version of the shroom song from 8-Bit Pwny Club. Cute, isn’t it?

Copy Paste Character

11 12 2009

While looking at images of the letter ç (c-cedilla) I came across this site  named copypastecharacter. I think it’s kind of cute, although I don’t know what it could be useful for, except in networking sites.

Copypastecharacter is by Konst & Teknik and Martin Ström.
